Daily Homework ( Monday -Thursday) Math-  There will be a worksheet placed in the school side of your child’s folder each evening.  It will have a large letter H which will signify that they are the sides to be completed for homework.  It is important to read each set of directions to your child. They must follow the strategy that was taught in school that day to solve the problem. If you need help understanding the strategy please refer to the home side of the folder  where you will see the days work. Facts are to be reviewed by singing the fact songs that we have learned in school. Reading-  Your child should read for a minimum of 10 minutes per night (  read a book from your home library, read current story in the reading text, reading small group reading book).  Encourage your child to extend their reading by at least 2 minutes each night.  Try to encourage them to find a particular author that they enjoy.  Then take them to the library to check out books written by that author. Spelling- The first night that your child brings home their new words please have them write the words on the right hand side of the spelling book.  Then look in the front of the spelling book for fun ways to practice the spelling words.  On the night before the spelling test (date listed in the newsletter) please glue in the sort and look for all the spelling patterns.  Vocabulary- study the sight words every night.    Weekend homework should be just reading for fun and reviewing the high frequency words in a fun way.

***  Please remember to fill out your reading slips each night so we can move ahead on our reading treasure map.
